About Delphine, Bespoke Couture Wedding Dress Designer

I was born and brought up on the idyllic island of Mauritius. Towards the end of my schooling I developed a burgeoning interest in Couture. This led me to enroll in the International Vocational Training Board for a course in pattern cutting and dressmaking, which I successfully completed.

My relevant qualifications also include courses in industrial sewing and gentlemen’s tailoring. I then completed Two years of private tuition with a qualified International Vocational Training Board instructor which gave me an excellent technical grounding in garment construction.

My love of couture led me to Paris, renowned as a centre for the craft, where I underwent an apprenticeship at Les Ateleiers du Costume, with a particular focus on period costume. A passion for bridal wear since an early age motivated me to take a prestigious opportunity working at Reves Nuptial specialising in bridal wear, and I was privileged to contribute to their bridal collection in 1996.

I returned to Mauritius to start what became a successful independent business in Bridal Couture, and began trading as ‘Delphine Couture’, thus fulfilling my childhood ambitions to work in bridal couture.

Since 2002 I have lived in the South East of England, where I continue to run ‘Delphine Couture’ from my independent worskhop specialising in bespoke bridal gowns. I cater for all aspects of couture for a wide range of private clients.

Alongside my independent business and private clients, I am an in-house designer for The Secret Dress House in Reigate.

I have also worked for The Bridal Boutique in Burgess-Hill (previously the House of Charles and Diana) and Utopia Bride in Godstone.

Alongside my independent business and private clients, I collaborate with Dress Dreams in Tunbridge Wells, making sure all their brides have the perfect fit. In 2014 I had the privilege of working on the first Haute Couture collection for Ralph & Russo in London featuring at Paris fashion week and dress making for Samuel Dougal, designer to Amanda Holden.

I always finds it a satisfying privilege to be involved in what I feel to be one of the most important days in a woman’s life.
